What is a TCT saw blade?
TCT (tungsten carbide tipped) blades are the industry standard for most wood and panel cutting.
Carbide tips are brazed onto a steel body, giving a strong, replaceable cutting edge at a competitive price. TCT blades suit everything from solid wood and MDF to aluminium and general-purpose cutting.
What is a PCD saw blade?
PCD (polycrystalline diamond) blades use diamond-tipped teeth that can last many times longer than carbide on abrasive materials.
They are the preferred choice for high-volume panel sizing on MDF, HPL, particle board and laminate flooring, where longer tool life lowers the overall cost per cut.
How to decide
- Volume: high-output lines benefit most from PCD's longer tool life.
- Material: abrasive boards (MDF, HPL, particle board) wear carbide fast — PCD resists it.
- Budget: TCT offers the lowest entry cost; PCD pays back on large production runs.
