Start with the machine and material

Your machine's arbor size, available diameter and spindle speed narrow the choice.

Your material and required finish quality set the tooth geometry.

Tooth count and hook angle

Softer boards generally cut cleaner with more teeth and a higher hook angle.

Dense, abrasive boards respond better to fewer, sturdier teeth and PCD tips. Pairing a scoring saw with the main blade prevents chip-out on melamine and laminated panels.

By material

  • MDF / HDF & particle board: panel sizing blades with high tooth counts for a clean edge.
  • HPL: PCD-tipped blades for long life on hard, abrasive surfaces.
  • Veneer & flooring: low-loss configurations for a fine finish.
